-
- DPI Inc, Development Program Initiatives, is a not- for-profit organization
- that is currently sponsoring the UNITEX BBS in New York City. We are a
- member of the International FidoNet Association (IFNA) and are part of the
- 107 NetWork called MetroNet. Our Net/Node number is 1:107/701 in the Matrix.
-
-
-
- We are currently hosting the UNITEX Echo and maintain a UN information file
- which is updated on a weekly basis. The file name is UNITEX.A??, where the
- file extension .A?? refers to the week number of the current year. It is
- arced with PKARC. It contains data that is extracted from several United
- Nations database sources and is in the form of several file summaries
- containing UN Press Releases, UN Radio News, USA-IPS International News,
- UNICEF and World Disaster News. The latest weekly version is file requestable
- under the name UNINFO.ARC
-
- UNITEX also carries other national Echos in the message area, such as, dBASE,
- C Programming Language, QUICK BASIC, MEADOW (Opus Sysops) and the National
- Sysop Echo.
-
- There is an excellent text and document section in File area 1 as well as
- other messages and file areas for software and DOS utilities. We also have a
- Foreign Affairs Area and an Amnesty International Area. The file UNITEX.ARC
- contains all the latest files that are available for general downloading from
- UNITEX. It is also file requestable.
-
- UNITEX is available for file requests 24 hr day except during MetroNet mail
- times (3:00 AM to 6:00 AM EST). We operate at 2400, 1200 and 300 baud. We are
- sometimes on an irregular schedule since we beta test various software and
- utilities. When we are open, fine....when we're not...keep trying.
-

- General Background and Guidelines:
- ---------------------------------
-
- This BBS is a voluntary effort of Development Programme Initiatives, Inc.
- DPII operates UNITEX for its' sponsor - the International Federation of
- Business and Professional Women, a Class I Non-Governmental Organization with
- consultative status before the Economic and Social Council of the United
- Nations.
-
-
- All program files (binary code) uploaded to UNITEX go into a special
- sub-directory of the BBS which is accessed only by the Sysop. This is both
- for protection of this BBS and for your protection to guard against so-called
- virus programs. No attempt is made at direct censorship of any textual
- material except if it is of an illegal nature.
-
- Comments directed to the Sysop (Private) may be left when you log off with
- the G)oodbye command. Please use the G)oodbye command to log off instead of
- just breaking connection. This insures a smoother transition for the next
- user as well as keeping your own data intact in the user file.
-
-
- The OPUS Bulletin Board Software including the several BBS utilities necessary
- to maintain this system, such as, front-end mailers, routing software, message
- and file utilities, echo mail software, etc, etc is a combined and joint
- effort from several outstanding individuals and Sysops, some of which are the
- following:
